Being present to the melt off

There's a huge ice rink building under my deck where the sump pump is emptying out to my backyard. I keep wondering if all that water could be saved or captured in the springtime when there's little chance of freezing. Thinking about a rain barrel, and wondering if the sump pump could be hooked up to it as well. We live on a steep hill only a block away from the pond where the water eventually ends up - or moved down into the water table.
I keep thinking about getting my garden going and how could I harvest the water to use for the garden? Hmmm...hydro pump, rain barrel, hoses, whatever. Gotta be good for the environment and good for a smaller utility bill from the city.

The deck was shoveled today, for the first time this winter, and we're able to grill again already. 45degrees and all is well. Gotta love MN springtime. Rain is expected tonight, but mostly just drizzle - so not enough to wash away the grey/brown sand and salt from the winter road spray.

I'm thinking about friends and family in far away places today. Hoping they are being kept safe and strong. My Google page has weather and world clocks that show me how different it is in their part of the globe.

I'm grateful for this day, here, where I am right now. I'm trying to stay present to the moment, which is not easy for me. I'm grateful for my friends and family here, and for hope of a new tomororw. It's the hope for tomorrow that gets in the way of my todays.
So today, as the sun sets on this day, I am present to the mild temps, slight breeze in the air, icy crystals of melting snow, smooth glossy water covered frozen puddles, and the smell of the bbq grill warming up. Brrr...time to grab a sweater and a glass of wine and stay present to right where I am.
